The Woman in the Wilds
The Woman in the Wilds, also called “The She-Wolf”, is the embodiment of wilderness and untamed nature. For those who respect nature and take pains to preserve it where they can, she provides protection and guidance. For those who disrespect the wilderness and take its riches for granted she has only contempt, and they often meet an unfortunate end.
The priests of the Woman in the Wilds are called the Children of the Wild. They preach a message of self-sufficiency and harmony with natural forces. Although most Children of the Wild live a solitary existence, acceptance into the priesthood only occurs after an extended apprenticeship under a senior member of the clergy. This time is taken to learn wilderness survival, animal handling, and the secrets of medicinal plants.
Though the Children of the Wild have no churches, the Wellystria trees that grow around the continent serve as shrines to The Woman in the Wilds. They take a feminine form which some skeptics postulate is the result of careful cultivation, but faithful adherents know it is their goddess’ will that the trees should grow this way. If extracted by a Child of the Wild the sap has miraculous healing properties, but it turns into a lethal poison oi taken without respect.
